Alison will discuss how Schlumberger sees the role of the service company evolving in the Oil and Gas Industry as the era of the Mega Mergers gives way to a much more diverse and targeted operator base.
Alison Goligher joined Schlumberger in 1988 after graduating from Edinburgh University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Physics, and a Master of Engineering degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University. In June 2004, she was awarded an Honorary Degree (LLD) by Dundee University. She was awarded an OBE in the 2005 New Years Honours List. After starting her career as a Field Engineer in Brunei, Alison worked in various operational positions in the Far East, USA, Norway and France. Following an assignment as Product Champion for Platform Express, a new concept in wireline logging tool, she was promoted in 1997 to Wireline Operations Manager in California. In 1999 Alison was appointed head of New Technology for Cased Hole Services and finally Vice President and General Manager for Cased Hole Services at the Schlumberger Wireline headquarters in Paris. In March 2001, Alison took the position of Managing Director with responsibility for all business segments of Oilfield Services in the UK, Ireland and Faroes. During this time she served on the Board of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce and SetPoint North. She was also active in industry, and was appointed to the Industry Leadership Team and PILOT (the pan industry, government task force), and served as Chairman for the StepChange in Safety Industry Association. In September 2004, she took up her current role of Vice President, Production based in Gatwick.
