Synopsis

The battle over the Hockey Stick graph has been one of the most bitterly fought scientific controversies of recent times. Andrew Montford is the author of a best-selling history of this extraordinary scientific paper and will discuss the story of the graph's rise and fall and the links between it and the Climategate affair of 2009, when hundreds of emails were leaked from the University of East Anglia, leading to accusations of foul play by climatologists.

Andrew Montford is perhaps most well known as the author of "The Hockey Stick Illusion", a history of a famous global warming symbol and scandal, published in 2010. He is also custodian of the influential blog www.bishop-hill.net. Andrew's background is in chemistry, finance, It, and scientific publishing.
