"The Role of E-Business in the Upstream Oil Industry"

Synopsis

Following the dot.com boom and bust, and the demise of the early oil and gas exchanges, what is the status of e-enablement in the oil and gas sector?  The current position will be described giving examples such as the collaborative solution for personnel tracking, i.e. Vantage POB, the importance of real-time management, and how the future might look.

Chris Freeman has been Chief Executive of LOGIC (Leading Oil and Gas Industry Competitiveness) since January 2000.  He was formerly Business Development Directory with LASMO plc.  Chris has over 20 years experience in the industry.  In his time with LASMO, he was responsible for business development in North and West Africa and South America.  After leaving LASMO, he spent 12 months trying to start a new exploration and production company.  Chris started in the industry as a Petroleum Engineer with British Gas Exploration and Production and during his 14 years with them held a number of management positions.  He planed a key role in the development of the Morecambe Bay gas fields and was responsible for BG E&P's entry into and expansion in Russia.  Chris has a PhD in Physics from Cambridge and an MBA in Finance and International Business.  He is a member of the Institute of Petroleum and PESGB and was a Director of the London section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers for 5 years.

Arrangements

Members and guests are invited to convene between 17:30 and 18:30 in the Hepburn Suite for coffee/tea and biscuits (pay-bar available). Meeting commences at 18:00.  An opportunity for informal discussion between members and guests will follow the presentation in the Cocktail Bar where a pay-bar is available until commencement of the Discussion Dinner (Chatham House Rules) at about 20:00.

Cost:  £29 inclusive of wine and VAT.
