Synopsis | Speaker | Arrangements | Booking | Other Events "Russia - The New Frontier for UK Oil Companies"Alan Parsley 7th October 2004, 6:00 p.m. A programme of student dinner attendance is sponsored by Wood Mackenzie. SynopsisRussia is one of the largest Major Resource Holders (MRH) in the world and yet relatively few foreign companies are active there. Unlike many MRH's, Russia has a well developed domestic oil and gas industry with its own unique history. The presentation will review the opportunity for foreign oil companies to add Russian production to their portfolios, addressing first the potential for new exploration and development prospects. The talk will then consider the additional skills that companies will need to deploy in order to develop a sustainable and profitable business in Russia. [top] SpeakerAlan's background in the oil industry has primarily been in exploration and new business development on a global basis. He has been actively involved in seeking Russian oil and gas opportunities in the second half of the 90's and from mid '02 until retirement from Shell International in June this year. [top] ArrangementsMembers and guests are invited to convene and register between 17.30 and 18.00 in the Hepburn Suite for coffee/tea and biscuits. The Club's Annual General Meeting will commence at 18:00. This will be followed by Alan's presentation. An opportunity for informal discussion between members and guests will follow the presentation in the Cocktail Bar where a pay bar is available until commencement of the discussion dinner (Chatham House Rules) at about 20:00.
