Synopsis

The Middle East and North Africa's vast oil and gas resources are critical to meeting the world's future energy needs; but questions are being raised as to whether the energy production from this key region will increase sufficiently to satisfy global demand.

World Energy Outlook 2005 sheds light on this issue by answering the question: how much oil and gas can we expect the region to export over the next two and a half decades?

This presentation will illustrate energy prospects throughout the Middle East and North Africa region (focusing on Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the UAE, Qatar, Algeria, Libya and Egypt), and the implications of these for world energy markets, through projections and analysis of issues such as domestic energy demand for the Middle East and North Africa region, future oil and gas exports based on current projects and plans, resource levels, domestic spending requirements and government policies.

(The World Energy Outlook is widely acknowledged as the single most important source of energy statistics, projections and analysis. Past editions have received numerous awards from government and industry in recognition of analytical excellence.)
