Wood Mackenzie SynopsisGeir will speak about the development of the giant Ormen Lange gas field on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and specifically about the Langeled pipeline connecting the onshore terminal in Mid-Norway with Easington in the UK. The Langeled system will be the world's longest pipeline, close to 1200 km. While production from Ormen Lange will start October 1, 2007, the southern leg of the Langeled pipeline - the part from the Sleipner field to Easington - will be ready for operation October 1 this year. This means that many fields connected to Sleipner will be able to supply gas to the UK already this coming winter. When Ormen Lange is on plateau in 2008/09, the field will be able to supply 20 bcm/year to UK or around 20% of UK's natural gas demand by that time. SpeakerGeir Lindholt has been with Hydro, Norway's second largest company, for 33 years. For the last 26 years he has had several management positions within E&P including license management, project development, international business development and gas contract administration. He is presently Vice-President in Hydro Markets responsible for the company's supply and transportation of natural gas from the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
